The GR Company Private Capital Breakfast Briefing
When investors want Asian growth without China risk, where does the money go? More and more, to Korea, Taiwan and Japan.
Steven Okun, advisor to The GR Company, moderated their private capital breakfast in Singapore. On the panel were Juyun Moon, Executive Director at GR Korea, Ambassador Lee Sing Ying, Senior Advisor at GR Taiwan, and Jakob Edberg, President & CEO of The GR Company.
Funds that carve out China have become a standard request from LPs. The markets picking up that capital carry political risks of their own, though.
Korea is moving quickly into AI and high-bandwidth memory, while the National Assembly’s view of foreign capital is harder to call. Taiwan’s semiconductor industry still shapes how investors price risk across the region. And Japan’s strong profits sit alongside a question many investors haven’t fully priced in: security alignment as export controls tighten.
For anyone allocating to North Asia, the policy read is now part of the investment case. That is the work GR’s teams do in Seoul, Taipei and Tokyo, and the room of investors yesterday had plenty of questions for them.
