Asia is simultaneously racing to decarbonise and navigating some of the most volatile geopolitics in decades. The ongoing Gulf conflict has exposed the vulnerabilities of the region’s energy system, by way of import dependence, limited fuel diversification and concentrated supply routes, compounding existing pressures from grid bottlenecks, regulatory uncertainty and weak investment signals.

Yet, the transition remains underway. Renewable energy capacity continues to expand, and investors are increasingly prioritising the grid upgrades and storage needed to manage intermittency.This webinar examines how global conflicts are reshaping energy supply and pricing, the current state of regional energy security, and the short- and long-term fixes needed to close the region’s supply and finance gaps. Panelists discuss themes of energy transition and addition, the importance of contextualising regional frameworks to suit local contexts, and extend the conversation to cover the more nascent challenge of AI’s growing footprint on already stretched energy systems.
